Description

The Grant Specialist is responsible for the collegeâ??s pre-award grant activities including utilizing grant tracking and forecasting to identify potential funding sources to support the collegeâ??s mission and strategic goals, assuming a leadership role in the grant development process working with employees throughout the college and coordinating and writing coherent, organized and compelling proposals.

Job Duties

  • Ability to lead and coordinate teams of individuals through the grant development and writing process; tracking and driving all components to completion
  • Skilled with meeting proposal deadlines and establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal
  • Demonstrates IWCCâ??s core mission, vision, and values
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelorâ??s degree, plus 2 years experience in an applicable role; or equivalent education and experience
  • Excellent written communication skills than ensure quality results including readability, consistency, and tone
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Knowledge of the grant pre-award lifecycle, including project development and grant opportunity prospecting for the purposes of improving grant success rates. 
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and private funding agencies and their proposal requirements
  • Interest in the expansion of job knowledge by participating in educational and professional development opportunities and maintaining personal networks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to pass a background check, have a valid driverâ??s license and good driving record

Physical Demands

  • Normal office setting with the ability to lift up to 10lbs
  • The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone, and basic office equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • Ability to drive company-owned or personal vehicle
